Australian gold output slumps 8 percent in first quarter due to cyclone, rain - "Heavy rains and a cyclone led to an 8 percent, or six-tonne drop in Australian gold production in the first quarter, a survey released on Sunday showed.

Output for the quarter from the world's second-biggest gold mining nation after China totaled 71.5 tonnes versus 77.5 tonnes in the previous quarter, according to the survey by Australian mining consultancy Surbiton Associates." More
